From 2009 – 2014 I started my own Pilates Studio. Here I operated and instructed at the studio. While I had a built my own website and slowly incorporated social media over the years, most of my marketing included copywriting content for print material such as posters, flyers, and brochures. I also published a regular email newsletter.
Newsletter Copywriting
The newsletter than I put out for the Pilates studio was written every 1 to 2 months. It included 3-4 articles on topics related to Pilates, the benefits of Pilates, how Pilates compliments a sport, etc. There was also a page on studio related news, specials, classes, etc. the
Posters / Flyers / Brochures
When I owned the Pilates studio the most effective and efficient way to market the studio at the time was to get the word out about the studio. The quickest was to do this was through flyers and posters distributed throughout the local and surrounding neighbourhoods. As the studio location became known, more people would drop by, word of mouth played a large role in marketing the studio, and thus, providing incentives to existing clients to bring in friend and family to try a class was being implemented. Reciprocal marketing initiative were also put into place with local businesses. Some of the flyers, posters, and brochures used in these initiative were print based.
